How Much is Business Visa Indonesia?

According to Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration (Immigration Law), every foreign national entering Indonesian territory must have an official visa. Therefore, Article 34 of the Immigration Law divides 4 (four) types of visas, namely:

  • Diplomatic Visa;
  • Service Visa;
  • Visit Visa; and
  • Limited Stay Visa

The regulation does not explain about Business Visa or Work Visa, because these visas are under the category of the four visas. Business Visa is a Visit Visa, while Work Visa is a Limited Stay Visa. The difference in the category of each visa is because each visa has its own role, according to the purpose and issuance procedure. Therefore, this article will describe the between a Business Visa in deep description.

Business Visa (Index 211 and 212)

As stated above, Business Visa with the fees of $150, falls under the category of Visit Visa. In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights No. 24/2016, a Visit Visa for business purposes consists of three different types, including (i) Visit Visa for 1 (one) trip; (ii) Visit Visa for multiple trips; and (iii) Visit Visa upon arrival. However, a Visa Upon Arrival can only be granted to foreigners from certain countries. With these provisions, further discussion will focus on the One-Time Visit Visa and Multiple Trip Visit Visa.

As the name implies, a One-Time Visit Visa (Index 211) is a permit granted for only one visit and expires when the foreign national leaves Indonesia. This permit is valid for a maximum of 60 (sixty) days and can be extended up to 4 (four) times for 30 (thirty) days at the Immigration Office in Indonesia.

In addition, a Multiple Travel Visit Visa (Index 212) is a permit that allows foreign nationals to visit and leave the territory of Indonesia several times. This permit is valid for a maximum of 5 (five) years and allows each visit for 60 (sixty) days.

Although allowed for business purposes, regulations related to Business Visas have certain limitations. Business Visas (One-Time Visit Visa and Multiple Trip Visit Visa) do not allow visitors to work as employees of companies in Indonesia. The business purposes referred to in the regulations only include, among others, business conversations, business meetings, comparative studies, training purposes, seminars, exhibitions, audits, and quality control or inspections. If foreigners intend to become employees in Indonesian companies, they must apply for a Work Visa.
