Visa on Arrival Extension Now Needs Immigration Office Verification
Corporate Secretary Service Indonesia – The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections explained that the extension of VoA (Visa on Arrival) now requires verification from the immigration office according to the domicile of foreign nationals (WNA) while in Indonesia. Director of Immigration Traffic Felucia Sengky Ratna explained that although it requires verification from the immigration office, the VoA extension application can still be done online, namely through the evisa.immigration.go.id web page.
Sengky in his statement in Jakarta on Friday said that the VoA extension application can be done online, both for foreigners who use electronic VoA and in the form of stickers obtained at the immigration counter in the airport arrival area. He continued, after the VoA extension application is entered into the system, officers at the immigration office will check the foreigner’s data first before the VoA extension is issued.
Meanwhile, for foreigners holding a visit visa with a validity period of 60 days who want to apply for a visa extension, it needs to be guaranteed or sponsored by an Indonesian citizen (WNI). Sengky also added that foreigners need to see their needs first. If the foreigner is going to stay in Indonesia for more than 60 days, there should be a guarantor from the beginning. If he/she will stay less than 60 days, he/she is required to apply for a visit visa without a guarantor.
Provisions related to immigration office verification in the extension of VoA (Visa on Arrival) and visit visas are regulated in Article 97 of Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation Number 11 of 2024 concerning Visas and Stay Permits. The article also stipulates that foreigners will not be declaredover stay, if the application and payment for the extension of VoA or visit visa is made before the visa expires. The provisions related to the role of guarantors in visa extension are listed in Article 98 of Permenkumham Number 22 of 2023 concerning Visas and Stay Permits.

Furthermore, Sengky explained, to apply for a VoA (Visa on Arrival) extension or visit visa through evisa.immigration.go.id, click the “Extend My Visa” button on the home page. Enter the passport number, country of origin and date of birth. If the data is correct, the applicant will be directed to fill out a visa extension form. Next, the applicant makes a payment using a debit or credit card with a Visa or Mastercard logo. For foreigners who get VoA at the airport immigration counter and want to apply for an online extension, click the “Services” menu on the top right side of the e-visa web page. Then at number 2, click the “Find Existing Stay Permit” button.
Then, fill in the foreigner’s passport number, nationality, and date of birth. The foreigner’s VoA information will appear and can be used to apply for a VoA extension. Sengky said, the Directorate General of Immigration applies digital-based services to facilitate the community, including foreigners.
